COMMUNITY LEADERS IN CEMETARY ROAD ELECTORAL AREA PLAN TO
CONTRIBUTE FOR DEVELOPMENT OF THEIR COMMUNITY: ROAD NETWORK FIRST PRIORITY.
On Friday, 13/04/2018, community leaders ( Odikro) from
communities in the cemetery road electoral area in Prestea met at Prestea Urban
Council to deliberate on how they can team up and raise funds to support the
Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Assembly on pivotal projects very urgent to the
development their communities.
The meeting was convened by Alhaji Nuhu Mohammed, a Muslim
tribal Chief, a Coordinator for the ruling New Patriotic Party and a Unity
Committee Member for the Cemetary Road Electoral Area. He was being assisted by
Alhaji Amuda, NASARA Coordinator for the ruling New Patriotic Party and Islamic
leader.
The meeting was Chaired by Nana Kwame Ackah, Odikro for

Briefing the elders, Alhaji Nuhu made it clear that, “if the
community members help themselves, it will be easy for the Assembly to also
support, rather that remaining idle and folding their arms and wait for
government”. He added that, the main road from Prestea to No. 1- Afukey-
Broni-Nkwanta- Kyurigum is very important and if the community leaders do not
take initiative to raise some funds and partner the District Assembly, it will
be difficult during the rainy season for cars to ply such roads”.
He briefed them on how they can form a committee immediately
to start raising funds from the community members, especially those who work in
these smaller communities and make a lot of money through their work. Such
workers can contribute as well to support what the community can raise. He
added that, if they get some funds, he can approach the Assembly to support and
the community members use communal labour on repairing that stretch of feeder
roads.
Alhaji Amuda also pointed that, government will soon work on
rural electrification in these areas and connect all communities in these areas
to the national grid.
Nana Kwame Ackah appealed that, they need four-phased
electricity connections, so that they wouldn’t encounter problems when they are
finally linked to the national grid.
