MP, BARBARA OTENG-GYASI& M.C.E HON. MOZART OWUH SHOWCASE DEVELOPMENTS , AS MP ASSURES WOMEN OF MORE SUPPORT.
The second town hall meeting under the tenure of MP. Hon. Lawyer Mrs. Barbara Oteng-Gyasi and MCE Hon. Mozart K. Owuh took place at Aboso in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality of the Western Region on Friday, 23rd November, 2018. It was attended, including the two abovementioned, the Deputy Regional Minister (WR), Mrs. Gifty Eugenia Kusi, Respresentatives of the Information Minister, District Assembly Members and over 1000 citizens drawn from across the Municipality, including the media attended this important program.
Speaking to Prestea Communicators for Development (PCD), and
advocacy group interested in partnering stakeholders , the MP, Hon. Lawyer Mrs.
Barbara Oteng-Gyasi said, this year, two key agreements/ laws: the legal aide
scheme (to provide legal aide to the poor and vulnerable) and the barter
agreement ( government entering into barter agreement with a company in China
to get monies for our road infrastructure, railway deficits) are very
important.
The MP, Hon. Lawyer Mrs. Barbara Oteng-Gyasi, then
elaborated in details what she has been doing for the people of Prestea
Huni-Valley since she was voted into power.
Education.
·
In support of government free SHS, I did
organise free vacation classes for all the three SHS in the municipality
(HUNIVAS, AUGUSCO, PRESTECH).
·
This year, I gave 1-Mathematical Set to every
BECE CANDIDATE in the PHMA.
·
The renovation of Science Laboratory at AUGUSCO.
·
I have supplied 8-motorbikes to GES, PHMA to be
given to all Circuit Supervisors in the Municipality.
·
Supported PHMA in providing furniture to our
schools.
·
Disbursed close to GHc 10,000 to Students who
have gained admission to Universities and other tertiary institutions.
·
Applied to the Minister of Education, Hon. Dr.
Opoku Prempeh to build a Secondary School at Aboso, something the former
President John Mahama “promised and failed “.
·
Plan to help open a Library with ICT centre for
the people of Aboso, the contract has been signed and will be completed by
early 2019.
Women Empowerment
·
As I
promised our women during my campaign, next week Sat, 1st December,
2019, I am bringing H. E. Samira Bawumia to Bogoso, to officially launch
“Obatanpa Barbara Oteng-Gyasi Small Loan Scheme for women across PHMA”. This
is non-partisan and women across Prestea, Bogoso, Aboso, Tarkwa Bremang,
Huni-Valley and its environs are going to selected to benefit from this. The
MASLOC is also getting ready, and our women will be selected for this as well.
“I want to help the women, so the can support their families”.
Sports
·
I have
submitted application to GNPC, and from 2019, Prestea Scots Stadium will
benefit from GNPC Astroturf, and upgrading of the scot stadium.
Health
·
I applied
to the Health Minister, and recently, he came to cut sod cut sod for the
Construction of Ultra Modern Hospital at Bogoso to help the health needs of the
people in PHMA.
·
Together
with PHMA, Prestea Government Hospital is going to see massive facelift in
2019.
·
I gave
Hospital Beds, two motor bikes to GHS in the Municipality recently.
·
Together
with PHMA, we cut sod for CHP Compound at Beppoh recently.
Road
·
Huni-Valley-Insu-Bogoso
Road is going to be advertised for contract very soon.
·
The
Prestea Inner City Road is going to be done as captured in 2019 budget
recently.
·
The
Prestea-Bogoso road: “We( Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources) are having
serious talks with GSBPL, that just as Goldfields Ghana have asphalted
Tarkwa-Damang, they should follow that good example and help government. I hope
it will yield results.
·
Other
roads like Aboso to Wassa Nkran, Tarkwa Bremang roads are all being considered
soon.
Mining
·
I am part
of the new Board of Prestea Sankofa Gold Ltd, and we are working to revive the
company. PSGL owed VRA, so they were disconnected. We have resolved that
problem, and by the time the ban on Small Scale Mining will be lifted, PSGL
will start operations.
·
I applied
to Mineral Commission, and they have agreed to open a satellite Mineral
Commission Office at Prestea.
·
My
ministry recruited Mining Guards, who will work as monitoring team, after the
ban has been lifted, and our people in PHMA got it share. The second batch will
soon be selected to go for training.
Skill Training
·
This
year, I gave over 50 hair driers to all who graduated as hair dressers in PHMA
through the association Ghana Hairdressers and Beauticians Association
(GHABA).
·
This
year, I gave over 50 sewing Machines to all who graduated as Seamstress through
their association.
·
I have
sent 100 Youth, through Aseda Foundation, Takoradi to learn various vocational
skills, and they will complete in next 3 years.
Employment
·
I have
supported our youth who applied to Police, Army, Navy and some have passed
through the process and have been recruited.
·
I
initiated tree planting project at Nsuaem, and they have nursed over 5000
seedlings and sold it to the forestry commission.
Galamsey
I am pleading with my
people that the steps taken by government is for our own future. For today, you
wont feel the effect of destroying the land but it will be bad if we don’t take
any measures.
Government is going
to register you into groups. Government will look for land for you, and you
will do what we call “community mining”. The ban will soon be lifted and
licensed miners as well as community miners will be supervised to work.
The MCE, Hon. Mozart
K. Owuh also elaborated projects her assembly has also done.
Visit
This year alone, we
have received the President, Nana Akuffo Addo, the Vice President, H. E. Dr.
Alhaji Bawumia, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Manu, (Health Minister), Hon. Kwaku Asoma
Kyeremeh, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources who have all helped PHMA.
The Vice President donated an amount of GHc 30,000 for cement for the
continuation of the Prestea Central Mosque.
Development projects
In
2019, Prestea Government Hospital will have 30-seater ward, Health Insurance
Office Building at Bogoso, Operation Stopping Flood, construction of security
gate for Bogoso market, 200 hexagonal desk, 500 dual-desk, 300 mono-desk, 1no.3
unit classroom with mechanized borehole, staff room, ict lab, storage facility,
for Awudua, 1 no. 12-unit classroom block at Yareyeya, with mechanised borehole,
3-unit KG block at Pateporm. All the good social interventions being put
forward, continuation Presby Primary School, Prestea
